Student Code of Conduct


Saber Academy is a martial arts school that combines modern training methods with traditional values and principles. Our training is conducted in the spirit of mutual respect, discipline, and dedication to personal growth.

Dojo Etiquette and Hierarchy

Always bow when entering and leaving the training area

Bow at the commencement and completion of each class

Bow to training partners before and after drills

Always address instructors by their proper rank or title

Respect the school hierarchy and chain of command

Recognize that a martial arts school is not a democracy; instructors' directions are to be followed with respect

Understand that rank is earned through dedication, skill, and character

Training Conduct

Pay careful attention to instruction and remain focused

Train with diligence and perseverance

Avoid disrupting class, which endangers others and displays disrespect

Control your ego and maintain humility in all aspects of training

Show respect for each person's individual talents and goals

Display high standards in language, manner, and attitude

Maintain good personal hygiene — clean uniform, controlled body odor, long hair tied back, and short nails

Support fellow students in their training journey

Safety and Respect

Ensure all physical contact is appropriate and necessary for training

Prioritize safety in all training activities

Refrain from any form of abuse toward fellow students

Be alert to and report any abuse directed toward others

Follow all safety protocols for weapons and sparring

Show concern for injured members and support modified training when needed

Online Training Conduct

Set up a dedicated training space free from hazards

Dress in proper training attire as you would for in-person classes

Log in promptly and remain attentive throughout the session

Show the same respect and formality as in-person training

Begin and end sessions with traditional bowing

Address instructors with proper titles

Minimize distractions in your environment

Do not record or share sessions without permission

Follow all instructor directions promptly and respectfully

Competition and Events

Represent Saber Academy with dignity and honor

Demonstrate poise under pressure and adherence to competition rules

Accept victory with humility and defeat with grace

Respect officials' decisions without complaint

Support your fellow academy members during competitions

Remember that your behavior reflects on the entire Saber Academy community

Personal Development

Commit to continuous improvement in skills and character

Train regularly both in class and independently

Apply martial arts principles to all aspects of your life

Be a positive ambassador for Saber Academy and the martial arts

By following this code of conduct, you contribute to the respectful, disciplined, and supportive environment that defines Saber Academy and honors the traditional martial arts we practice.
